<p>The invention relates to a mat for use in a method for the manufacture of glass fiber reinforced plastics or carbon fiber reinforced plastics as a layer for the absorption of excess resin expelled during the manufacturing process. The mat consists of thermally bonded plastic fibers, with at least one side of the mat having a solidified surface with a smaller pore size.
