PURPOSE: A method for welding metal by a laser is provided to hybrid-laser weld a plurality of steel sheets and to join a steel stamping to a hydroformed part by a single penetrating lap joint design. CONSTITUTION: A method for welding metal by a laser(34) is composed of steps for supplying at least first and second metal materials in an overlapped relationship; splitting a head(30) having the laser and at least of a GMAW(Gas Metal Arc Welder,36) and a MIG(Insert Gas Metal Arc Welding) soldering device; moving the head for the first and second metal materials to form a channel(42) by completely penetrating the first metal material and partially penetrating at least the second metal material with the laser; and filling the channel with at least one of the GMAW and the MIG soldering device to weld the first and second metal materials together. |
