The device (1) for the utilising of the earth's heat has a surface collector (R) acting as heat exchanger, and collector tubes (2) supplying a medium to a heat pump and laid in a trench (4) in the earth beneath a cover layer. The device is provided with a water barrier layer (6) covering the region of the trench on the bottom side and through this extend the collector tubes in a storage layer holding supplied water. The water barrier layer is water penetrable at least in areas.
