Gas sensor and usage of a gas sensor for the selective detection of hydrocarbons in the exhaust gas of a spark ignition engine

Use of a gas sensor comprising: (i) a component acting as a capacitor; (ii) a gas-permeable sensitive layer as dielectric consisting of a precious metal-doped zeolite having a crystalline structure made of primary pores whose diameter is in the size order of the gas-kinetic diameter of the gas molecules to be detected to detect hydrocarbons in oxygen-deficient gases is claimed. Also claimed are: (A) production of the sensitive layer material; and (B) process for applying the sensitive layer material on the component acting as a capacitor.
