PURPOSE: A gas leakage prevention device is provided to prevent accidents caused due to a gas leakage, by automatically cutting off a gas supply upon detection of a gas leakage. CONSTITUTION: A gas leakage prevention device comprises a cutoff valve(7) mounted to a gas inlet pipe(23) and open or shut by an electrical signal so as to allow gases to flow into the gas inlet pipe or prevent gases from flowing into the gas inlet pipe; a pressure reducing unit(12) where gases supplied through the cutoff valve are introduced; a diaphragm(11) expanding or contracting by the pressure of the gas introduced into the pressure reducing unit; a motion transmission shaft(13) for moving in forward or reverse directions in accordance with the expansion or contraction of the diaphragm; a cutoff valve operating switch(6) which is turned on/off by the movement of the motion transmission shaft so as to control supply of electrical energy to the cutoff valve; a balance switch(5) which is turned on/off by the movement of the motion transmission shaft so as to control supply of electrical energy to the cutoff valve operating switch; a switch hold unit for maintaining the turn-on state of the balance switch, when an operating switch of a gas device starts operation or operates in a direction increasing a gas consumption of the gas device; and a gas leakage display unit electrically connected to the balance switch.
