PURPOSE: An airbag apparatus is provided to prevent traffic accidents and to protect a driver by turning a steering wheel down to the steering shaft at a head-on collision during traveling at the high speed by modifying the structure. CONSTITUTION: An airbag apparatus has a rotating unit to turn a steering wheel(20) downward to a steering shaft in deploying an airbag(30). The rotating unit is composed of a first hinge part(11) and a second hinge part(21) formed in the steering shaft and the steering wheel, rotated, combined with each other and composed of a slide groove, a fixing pin(50) combined with the slide groove by sliding to fasten the steering wheel to the steering shaft, and a withdrawing unit drawing the fixing pin out of the slide groove in deploying the airbag. The passenger is protected by deploying the airbag at the chest of the passenger.
