DEVICE FOR PROTECTING DATA OF HDD USING PASSWORD

PURPOSE: A device for protecting data of an HDD(Hard Disk Drive) using a password is provided to prevent leakage of data when the HDD is stolen by storing the inputted data with encryption. CONSTITUTION: A storage device(2) receives/stores the password from a user when a computer is booted. A selector(3) selects a specified byte from the password output from the storing tool according to a position of a track and a sector in the HDD(5), and outputs it. A converter(4) encrypts the data written from a CPU according to each bit value of the byte selected from the select and a write enable signal inputted from an HDD controller, and outputs it to the HDD. The converter decrypts the encrypted data read from the HDD and outputs it to the CPU.
