PURPOSE: An apparatus for driving a liquid crystal display device and a method therefor are provided to prevent misoperation due to unstable driving voltage as well as to drastically reduce the electromagnetic interface(EMI). CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for driving a liquid crystal display device includes a gray level voltage generation unit, a data driving unit and a signal control unit. The gray level voltage generation unit generates a plurality of gray level voltages. The data driving unit applies a selected gray level voltage as a data voltage by selecting the gray level voltage among the plurality of the gray level voltages. And, the signal control unit supplies the image data to the data driving unit and generates a control signal to control the image data so as to supply the generated control signal to the data driving unit.
