PURPOSE: A method for automatically informing about an area by using a mobile terminal is provided to enable a mobile terminal to inform a user or a person that the user wants to let be informed on an area where a user is traveling. CONSTITUTION: A user sets an area desired for an automatic area informing service(S110). The user selects whether to detect a position by using a system parameter message or by using position information received from a GPS satellite(S112). The user inputs a phone number of the other party that the user wants to be informed and the inputted phone number is stored(S114). An MPU(Micro-Process Unit) monitors a user's position by using the system parameter message or the position information received from the GPS satellite(S116) and determines whether the user has moved into a service area(S118). When the user has moved into the service area, the MPU informs the user that he/she has moved into the service area by using a bell sound or in characters(S120). The MPU informs the position information of the user to the phone number of the other party by using a text message(S122).
