PURPOSE: An optical alignment apparatus and an aligning method thereof are provided to align automatically optical fibers by using an image processing method and a loading method. CONSTITUTION: An optical alignment apparatus includes an optical power meter, an infrared camera, an automatic loading unit, a CCD camera, and a computer. The optical power meter(14) is used for outputting a light source. The infrared camera is used for monitoring the light source of an optical fiber loaded on a motor stage. The automatic loading unit(40) is used for moving the optical fiber to a predetermined place. The CCD camera(7) is used for monitoring the moving state of the optical fiber. The computer includes a motor controller for controlling an operation of a motor and an image processor having a GUI program for identifying an automatic alignment process.
