PURPOSE: A scrolling unit, a color illumination device and a projection system employing the same are provided to perform a scrolling of a color bar using one part. CONSTITUTION: A color illumination device includes a light source(10), a beam splitter(15) for splitting beams radiated from the light source(10) according to wavelengths of the beams, and a scrolling unit(18) for scrolling R,G,B color beams divided by the beam splitter(15). A projection system includes the color illumination device, and a light valve(30) for forming a color image by processing beams scrolled by means of the scrolling unit(18) according to the image signals. The light source(10) radiates while light and includes a lamp(11) and a reflecting mirror(13) for reflecting the beam radiated from the lamp(11).
