摘要 PURPOSE: A method and a device for detecting biomolecules using a liquid crystal are provided, therefore a state change of biomolecules can be cheaply and easily detected by the naked eye, cheap CCD(charge coupled detector) or simple electrical equipments. CONSTITUTION: The method and device for detecting biomolecules using a liquid crystal comprises optically or electronically amplifying and converting the state change of biomolecules via the change of liquid crystal orientation, wherein the liquid crystal has nematic liquid crystal phase at 100 deg. C or less; and the state change of biomolecules is caused by the DNA hybridization. The method and device for detecting biomolecules using a liquid crystal comprises the steps of: (a) selectively hybridizing a detected DNA and a target DNA; (b) adding the liquid crystal into the hybridized DNA; and (c) measuring optical and electrical properties of the liquid crystal at the liquid crystal oriented and unoriented portions.
