PURPOSE: A system for standby/reservation of an elevator by using a mobile communication terminal and a method therefor are provided to predict an arrival time of an elevator user by using position information on a mobile communication terminal and map information, so that an elevator waits for the user, thereby remarkably reducing a standby time of the elevator. CONSTITUTION: A mobile communication terminal(110) transmits position information provided through a GPS through a wireless communication network. An elevator driving device(130) predicts an arrival time of an elevator user through the position information supplied from the mobile communication terminal(110) through a wireless communication base station(120), so that an elevator can wait for the elevator user. If the position information with a standby request message is transmitted to the elevator driving device(130), the elevator driving device(130) calculates a distance between the user of the mobile communication terminal(110) and the elevator, and predicts the arrival time.
