PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder block that has high rigidity and hardly deforms. SOLUTION: The cylinder block 1 having a cylinder comprises a crank head 10 having the cylinder 101 and a crankcase 11 for storing a crankshaft in a positional relation where the axial line of the crankshaft crosses the axial line of the cylinder 101 substantially vertically. The crankcase 11 has a shape opening in one side surface direction with respect to the axial line of the cylinder 101.
