Specimen stage, especially for a microscope, comprises at least one plate (2) arranged above a holding plate (3) and displaced along guide surfaces. The plate is provided with a drive device having a rotating shaft (5) and a transfer device with a toothed rack and a pinion for converting the rotational movement into linear movement of the plate. The toothed rack is a flexible toothed rack displaceably mounted in a guide device (9) at least partly surrounding the toothed rack. The guide device is longer than the flexible toothed rack and has over its length at least one linear (9a, 9c) and at least one curved guide region (9b) for the toothed rack. A force-locking carrier device (12) for the plate is connected to the toothed rack in the linear guide region.
