The gear drive has bevel gears with a maintained tooth flank play to accommodate temperature changes causing expansion and contraction. One of the relatively meshing gears (3) has a TC (temperature compensating) element for axial adjustment of its position and that of the meshing teeth flanks. This gear is axially slidable in the drive housing (1). The TC element is arranged between the housing and the gear bearing.
