<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium consisting of a molecular magnetic material and capable of generating phase transition of fine particles at high speed by being irradiated with light and to provide its recording method. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical recording medium 1 provided with a substrate 4 and an optical recording material thin film 2 formed on the substrate 4, the optical recording material thin film 2 consists of the fine particles of a cobalt iron cyano-complex containing an alkali metal showing phase transition from a low temperature phase to a high temperature phase. High temperature phase crystal grain is formed by irradiating the optical recording material thin film 2 with light at a temperature at which the thin film 2 shows the low temperature phase and the high temperature phase crystal grain formed by the light irradiation and the rest of the low temperature phase crystal grain which is not irradiated with light are used as bits of optical recording. Optical recording can be erased by keeping the temperature at which the high temperature phase crystal grain is formed by light irradiation or above and which is a phase transition temperature or below and extinguishing the high temperature phase crystal grain formed by light irradiation to form the low temperature phase crystal grain. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
