<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability in communication by providing a method for identifying a fault location in optical switches which is capable of identifying a node including a fault optical switch in order to cope with a disconnection in such as a fiber and a ring in a label switch type ring network. <P>SOLUTION: A method for identifying a fault location in optical switches in an ultra high-speed light packet transfer ring network comprises the steps of: sending a pilot packet with a predetermined data row from a master node device; receiving the pilot packet by an optical inserting and branching type multiplexing/demultiplexing node device, and determining whether the pilot packet has been received normally by checking whether the received pilot packet is the same as the predetermined data row, and further informing the master node device whether the pilot packet had been received normally; and thereafter by basing on the above information, making the master node device identify which node in the ring includes a failure optical switch. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
