<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for cleaning an exhaust gas which reduce the cost of the device, and reduce particle materials in the exhaust gas without being accompanied with combustion independently of the temperature of a catalyst, thereby not requiring any heater for heating the catalyst and enhancing the durability of a carrier. <P>SOLUTION: Since the exhaust gas is brought into contact with a photocatalyst, a titanium oxide T, in an exhaust passage 12, the cost reduction of the device for cleaning the exhaust gas 10 is realized. The particle material content in the exhaust gas is reduced without combusting the particle materials independently of the temperature of the photocatalyst, the titanium oxide T, as well, thereby the heater being not required and the durability of both cylindrical filters 16, 18 being enhanced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
