PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the occupancy time of a bus between a core part and a memory, especially for a general-purpose processor, by compressing data transferred on the bus in the unit of several bits. SOLUTION: A data transfer method extracts a series of data mapped on memory, converts the extracted data with a conversion table, and transfers the converted data on a data bus. The conversion table is for the conversion of a pattern of data similar to the extracted data into converted data having table data indicating whether they are converted or not, table number data indicating the group to which the pattern belongs, and code data of a variable bit count depending on the frequency of occurrence of the pattern in the group. The efficiency of data transfer is thus increased to provide more efficient data transfer in data transfer on a data bus by bus clocks slower than core clocks. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
