PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the end edge part of a covering material from peeling and prevent the function of coating material covering the concrete surface from deteriorating when protecting the concrete surface with a surface covering material. SOLUTION: When protecting concrete with a surface covering material, a water repellent is applied on the concrete surface in the position where the end edge part of the surface covering material exists to prevent water from being absorbed from the exposed surface of concrete into concrete. As the water repellent, While using alkyl alkoxy silane and poly organo siloxane for an effective component, as the water repellent, silane-siloxane base water repellent containing 75 wt. % or higher effective components in an aqueous medium can be used.
