PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image display device with a red blur phenomenon improved and a balance of a current ratio improved with excellent brightness contrast characteristics and an excellent color reproduction range. SOLUTION: The device is provided with an optical absorption layer formed in a pattern shape on a transparent base body, and a phosphor screen equipped with a blue phosphor layer, green phosphor layer and red phosphor layer formed so as to cover the optical absorption layer on the transparent base body with the optical absorption layer formed. When each brightness of the blue phosphor layer, green phosphor and red phosphor layer formed on a transparent base body without any optical absorption layer existing is L<SB>B</SB>, L<SB>G</SB>, L<SB>R</SB>, a brightness of each polymerized part of the optical absorption layer with the blue, green, and red phosphor layers is L'<SB>B</SB>, L'<SB>G</SB>, and L'<SB>R</SB>, andΔB=L'B/LB,ΔG=L'G/LG,ΔR=L'R/LR, formulae 0.1≤ΔB,ΔG,ΔR≤0.7,ΔR/ΔG≥1.2,ΔB/ΔG≥0.3 are satisfied.
