PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a semiconductor memory device which screens a defective wordline and does not increase refresh current and standby current even if a bridge is present in the defective wordline. SOLUTION: The semiconductor memory device includes a buffer section which generates a wordline drive signal for enabling the wordline of a memory cell in response to a row address signal and a driver section which generates a wordline reset signal for disabling the wordline in response to the row address signal, a mode register wordline signal and a refresh wordline signal.
