PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water treatment method which removes an impure substance in water without being accompanied by the occurrence of a large amount of secondary waste, the elution of a filter medium or the like by a simple constitution, and an apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: This apparatus for treating water is constituted of a separation tank 7 into which raw water 1 containing charged impurities 3 and 4 is introduced and concentration tanks 10 and 11 provided in contact with the separation tank 7 through diffusion beds 8 and 9 permitting water to permeate and suppressing the diffusion of the impurities, equipped with electrodes 13a and 13b for forming an electric field letting electric force act on the impurities and separating and housing concentrated water containing the impurities, of which the concentration is higher than that of those of the raw water, from the raw water.
