A game machine and an information storage medium for prompting the player having selected a multi-player mode to make a continuous play. The maximum number of gate stages which the player can clear in the multi-player mode is larger than that which the player can clear in a single-player mode. The game is made over each time a course is cleared in the single-player mode, and a play continuing right of the next course (a course of higher difficulty) is given when the present course is cleared in the multi-player mode. A player of superior game grade is given a play continuing right of the next course, and a player of inferior gate grade is given the right at a predetermined probability. A player given no play continuing right is allowed to continue the game play only when the player pays coins and is prompted to pay them to continue the game play.
