<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medicine for inhibiting the functions of ADAMST4, and to provide a screening method using the ADAMST4 as a target molecule for medicines. <P>SOLUTION: An ADAMST4 gene-defect mouse was made and analyzed to clarify the physiological meaning of the ADAMST4. It was consequently clarified that the ADAMST4 played a decisive role at the early stage of genesis. The ADAMST4 protein is considered to be useful as a contraceptive based on the suppression of the expression or activity of the ADAMST4 protein.
