<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fully increase the occasions to carry out low temperature combustion in a control device for a diesel engine vehicle provided with a diesel engine carrying out low temperature combustion in a first operation range and carrying out normal combustion in a second operation range, and an automatic stepped transmission having a clutch. <P>SOLUTION: This control device for the diesel engine vehicle is provided with an automatic stepped transmission control means for changing a gear ratio by the automatic stepped transmission to change the present operation range from the second operation range to the first operation range, and an intake air quantity control means (a target throttle valve opening A3) increasing an intake air quantity Q2 decreased to cut off a clutch, only up to an intake air quantity Q4 suitable to carry out low temperature combustion in a steady operation state in the first operation range after the change after connecting the clutch.
