<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical function device which can reduce the number of arrayed waveguide gratings (AWG) and is high in manufacturing yield, small in size and low in cost. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical function device, two AWGs into which an arrayed waveguide is optically divided by a high reflection means at the center of the arrayed waveguide and a 1×2 optical switch array provided with a high reflection means on one terminal side of two terminal sides of the two AWGs are combined. Thereby, in the optical function device, two AWGs exist theoretically even though one AWG exists morphologically, and functions of combining frequencies and separating frequencies can be independently performed. Thus, since the number of the AWGs can be made fewer than the conventional member, improvement of yield and miniaturization of the optical function device can be simultaneously achieved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
