An image processing device, method, and program for reserving the color tone and thereby reproducing an image even if the luminance signal level is changed by gradation conversion. A Y matrix section (112) and a C matrix section (113) convert the original color acquired from an imaging device (111) into a luminance signal and a color difference signal. A gradation correction section (114) conducts gradation adjustment of the luminance signal Y to convert the luminance signal Y into a luminance signal Y' and output the luminance signal Y'. Further, the gradation correction section (114) converts the luminance signal into a signal Y' as the Y signal of the XYZ colorimetric system and outputs the signal Y' to a color difference correction section (115). The color difference correction section (115) calculates h1 and h2 corresponding to the hue H and the chroma C of the Munsell system, respectively, and further calculates X' and Z' in the XYZ colorimetric system according to the signal Y' as the Y signal after gradation adjustment in the XYZ colorimetric system so as to store h1 and h2 after the gradation correction.
