<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic component which contains an amount of resin component which keeps a required exterior strength without hindering the formation of an outer package, and is made inflammable. <P>SOLUTION: The electronic component uses an outer packaging material which contains an inorganic filler component and a flammable resin component for an outer packaging section (8) for covering an element (2). The weight ratio of the flammable resin component to the inorganic filler component is set between 0.053 and 0.148. For the inorganic filler, hydrate alumina or the like is used, and the electronic component constitutes a non-linear voltage resistor or the like.
