PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a spindle motor in which the stator and the rotor can be separated when it is required due to some reason after a motor provided with a locking structure is assembled without causing any damage on the rotor and the motor body. SOLUTION: The rotor comprising a rotor yoke being secured to a rotary shaft, a disc positioning part and a disc mounting part provided on the rotor yoke is further provided with a hook extending from an insertion hole made through the rotor yoke to the side of the stator integral with the disc positioning part and the disc mounting part or independent therefrom. The spindle motor can be operated to deform the hook resiliently from the outside through the insertion hole such that an engaging ratchet formed at the forward end of that hook comes into noncontact engagement with a stopping part formed on the stator.
