PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fill the ink flow channels of an ink jet recording head with ink jet ink so as not only to certainly prevent the occurrence of printing failure in initial ink filling operation but also to ensure a state exerting no influence on the discharge of ink and to reduce the amount of ink jet flow in order to perfectly fill the ink flow channels with the ink at the time of intial filling with the ink. SOLUTION: In the ink jet recording head for discharging the ink jet ink in an ink chamber from a nozzle, the ink flow channels of the ink jet recording head are preliminarily filled with a filling liquid for the ink jet recording head containing water and 1,2-hexanediol before the ink flow channel of the ink jet recording head is initially filled with the ink jet ink.
