PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the centering apparatus and the centering method of an optical lens by which centering is made so as to lessen the amount of decenter, and also the centering is made even though it is a tilt aspheric lens. SOLUTION: The centering apparatus of this optical lens is provided with: a suction rotating means used to rotate one side of a worked lens comprising the optical faces of two faces to the circumference of a designated rotary shaft in a sucked condition; an inside curvature center position distinguishing means for distinguishing whether the center of curvature against the vicinity of the center portion in the optical face sucked by the suction rotating means is positioned on the above rotary shaft or not; an outside curvature center position distinguishing means for distinguishing whether the center of the curvature against the peripheral portion of the optical face sucked by the suction rotating means is positioned on the above rotary shaft or not; a securing means for making the above worked lens against the above suction rotating means immovable; and a working means which is free in a reciprocating movement in the disjunctive direction to the above rotary shaft and which can be used for cutting the outer circumferential face of the above worked lens.
