In a vehicle air conditioner, it is determined whether a regenerative electric power generation is performed in an electric motor or not. When it is determined that the electric motor is in an electric power generating state, the electric supply to the electric heater is allowed. Accordingly, the allowed maximum electric-power value of a power consumption amount in the air conditioner becomes greater than the allowed maximum electric-power value set when it is determined that no electric motor is in the electric power generating state. Accordingly, it is possible to restrict an air conditioning feeling from becoming worse while preventing the electric power supplied to the electric motor from being insufficient due to consumption of the electric power of the battery by the air conditioner.
