An automotive air conditioning unit has a fan-fold air filter pack (12) with has a stiffening member (16) which is parallel to the pack (12) end-face (14). The first fan-fold panel (22) is bonded to the pack end fold (26). The height of the second panel (24) is the same as that of the first. The second panel (24) is a folded one-piece extension of a third panel (34) whose end is folded over the pack main surface (36) and bonded (38) to an adjacent folded edge on the pack. A profiled strip insert (40) is located between the first (22) and second (24) panels. The strip (40) extends at least halve the length of the pack side and is a semi-flexible metal or two-component material which is attached to the surrounding structure by form, fit and bonding. An external e.g. polyurethane foam seal is located over the second panel (24).
