the lifting truck has a lifting arm (2) supported by a mobile chassis (3) and along which a load support element (5) is movable up and down. The lowering of the load support element and its load is solely through gravity whereby the energy resulting from the lowering of the load is supplied to an energy accumulator. Drive means are provided for resetting the load support element into the raised position. The drive means are loaded with drive power through the energy accumulator. The energy accumulator can be a gas spring supported against a fixed abutment.
