ELECTRON EMITTING PORTION, FLAT PANEL DISPLAY, FLAT LIGHT SOURCE, COLD CATHODE FLUORESCENT LAMP, ELECTRODELESS FLUORESCENT LAMP AND THESE MANUFACTURING METHODS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy manufacturing methods for an electron emitting portion, a flat panel display or a flat light source.

SOLUTION: A metal element 1 which constitutes an electron emitting portion of a cathode and an alkali metal supply material 2 in contact with the metal element 1 are disposed in a sealed vessel 23 with a discharge gas (Ar) contained inside, wherein a pair of surfaces confronting each other comprises a front face panel 8 and a rear face panel 6. The metal element 1 and the alkali metal supply material 2 are heated while discharging the discharge gas (Ar) by applying a high-frequency voltage between the cathode and an external electrode 22 arranged outside the sealed vessel. The discharge gas (Ar) is discharged from the sealed vessel 23 after an alkali metal supplied from the alkali metal supply material 2 is adsorbed onto a face of the metal element 1.
