SURFACE GRINDING MACHINE WITH TOUCH PROBE SENSOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface grinding machine improving the position detecting function of a touch probe sensor and providing a ground work having good surface roughness. SOLUTION: In this surface grinding machine 1, a shaft 89 suspending a probe 92 supporting a stylus 91 of the touch probe sensor 90 at the tip is parallel to the surface in the direction of the diameter of a grinding wheel 24 and fitted to the front side of a safety cover 25 of a grinding wheel to be positioned in a point O of intersection on an extension axis of the grinding wheel spindle. By this arrangement, the distance between the grinding wheel spindle and the sensor is made short so that the thermal displacement of the wheel head 22 and the influence of the moment of the grinding wheel vibration are small to improve the surface roughness.
