PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transfer only a part of data of an audio visual data file in a recording means while minimizing change of a conventional system utilizing FTP. SOLUTION: In the case of requesting to transfer only the part of data of the audio visual data file in the recording means 3, a client 1 transfers a command for file transfer request in FTP to an FTP server 2 and uses a file name consisting of a file name of the file added with a parameter representing the part of the audio visual data as a file name following the command. The FTP server 2 reads only the part of the audio visual data specified by the parameter from the file of the file name and transfers them to the client 1 as a file in the case that the file name added with the parameter is used as the file name following the command for file transfer request sent from the client 1.
