PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating device and a coating method capable of uniformly applying a coating liquid on the surface of a substrate by using an inkjet head which ejects the coating liquid containing a polymer as droplets from a nozzle. SOLUTION: The coating device which applies the coating liquid 9 to the continuously conveyed substrate 6 by using the ink jet head which ejects the coating liquid as droplets from the nozzle 3, is provided with an atmosphere control box 8 which surrounds the atmosphere near the inkjet head 1 and an atmosphere control means 8A which controls atmospheric temperature and atmospheric humidity in the atmosphere control box 8.
