PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorine-containing polymer having excellent mechanical strengths, excellent stain resistance, and the like, and to provide a method for producing the fluorine-containing polymer. SOLUTION: This fluorine-containing polymer containing repeating units (A) represented by formula (1) [R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>and R<SP>4</SP>are each independently H, F or Cl, provided that at least one of R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP>and R<SP>4</SP>is F; (n) is an integer of 1 to 4] in an amount of 1 to 100 mol. % based on the total amount of the polymer in the molecule is characterized in that the polymer has a fluorine content of≥10 wt. % and a <2,000 low molecular weight component content of≤30 wt. %. The method for producing the fluorine-containing polymer is characterized by polymerizing a fluorine-containing monomer (B) giving the repeating units (A) in the presence of a fluorine-containing organic peroxide.
