PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective insulation treatment process (a manufacturing method of a metallic separation wall for an image display device) for providing the metallic separation wall for the image display device with high performance (high definition/high brightness) and a high insulating property at low cost by heightening an aperture ratio. SOLUTION: The metallic separation wall for an image display device is manufactured by forming an oxide layer containing at least one kind selected from SiO<SB>2</SB>, Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, MgO, TiO<SB>2</SB>, SiO<SB>2</SB>-Li<SB>2</SB>O group, SiO<SB>2</SB>-Na<SB>2</SB>O group, SiO<SB>2</SB>-K<SB>2</SB>O group, SiO<SB>2</SB>-P<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>group, and P<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>-Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>group, on a base plate for the metallic separation wall having many through-holes.
