PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon nanotube assembly obtained in a sheet like state, having excellent handleability and high general applicability and used for various fields such as an electronic industry in a wide range, and a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: A metallic plate 2 is mounted in an alumina tube 1 vertically mounted and used as a reaction tube to be parallel to the alumina tube. The temperature in the reaction tube 1 is kept to 1,000°C by heating with a heater 11 and a mixed solution 3 prepared by adding ferrocene and thiophene into benzene or hexane is sprayed with gaseous hydrogen in the reaction tube 1. After spraying, the inside of the reaction tube 1 is sufficiently cooled by allowing gaseous argon to pass through and the metallic plate 2 is taken out to strip the carbon nanotube assembly produced on both surfaces of the metallic plate 2 to obtain the sheet-like carbon nanotube assembly.
