PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent peeling of a filter medium for an automatic gearbox or air cleaner. SOLUTION: The filter medium is provided with a laminate (4) composed at least of three layers, namely, a reinforcing sheet (1), and pieces of nonwoven fabric (2 and 3) for the filter for holding the reinforcing sheet (1) from above and below, and the individual layers of the laminate (4) are entangled by fibers (10) of the pieces of the nonwoven fabric (2 and 3). The oil of the automatic gearbox is filtered by a plurality of layers of the pieces of nonwoven fabric (2 and 3) of the laminate (4), and even if irregular force is exerted to the laminate (4) by the pulsation of the oil, the fibers of the pieces of nonwoven fabric (2 and 3) are entangled between the individual layers of the laminate (4) with each other, and therefore the laminate (4) does not peel and the filter medium maintains a proper filtering function.
