PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase coating efficiency in an external application type electrostatic coating. SOLUTION: Since a buffer tank 17 is connected to a ground side G through a high resistance 18, a paint supply route 19 which passes from the buffer tank 17 to a coating gun 10 and a nozzle 11 is kept in a prescribed electric potential and a paint P discharged from the nozzle 11 is charged in a prescribed electric potential. The electric potential of the charged paint P which is discharged from the nozzle 11 is further increased by a corona charge with a charging electrode 15. A coating efficiency by this electrostatic coating apparatus is better than the one which nozzle 11 is grounded as the paint P is able to be charged at a high electric potential.
