<p>The invention relates to a flow circuit comprising at least one flow channel in which is located a flow control means, wherein the physical state of the flow control means is alterable by application of an external stimulus, such that in use, the flow of a material through the circuit can be controlled. The invention further provides a method of controlling flow of a material through a flow circuit having at least one flow channel, the method comprising the steps of (a) locating a flow control means within at least a portion of a flow channel, the flow control means comprising a physical state which is alterable by application of an external stimulus; and (b) applying an external stimulus to or in the region of at least a portion of the flow control means, such that the physical state of the flow control means is altered to alter the flow of the material in the region of said portion of the flow control means.</p> |
