PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roof installed type air conditioner for a vehicle having a less-expensive structure facilitating a flow of wind flowing into suction ports 8 without performing any complex control so as to improve a refrigerant condensing capability of a condenser 4 and enable a load of a condenser fan 5 to be reduced. SOLUTION: A cover 16 for a suction part having a vehicle front side opening 16a and a vehicle upper side opening 16b opened inside is installed at suction ports 8. There is provided an opening part switching door 17 suspended down through its own weight while placing a pivoting point 17a at a vehicle front side end of the upper side opening 16b of the vehicle at the cover 16 for the suction part. With such an arrangement as above, this structure is made such that the opening part switching door 17 is moved up to the most suitable angle where the wind may always easily flow into the suction ports 8 so as to improve a refrigerant condensing capability of the condenser 4 and at the same time to enable a load at a condenser fan 5 to be reduced.
