PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new type traction fluid which has tolerable physical properties as a traction fluid, is nontoxic to humans, does not emit unpleasant odors, and has a low manufacturing cost used in a toroidal continuously variable transmission (T-CVT) which is attractive in respect that it greatly saves a fuel when used in vehicles and machines. SOLUTION: A composition provided herein contains a traction fluid containing at least one compound represented by any one of formulae äwherein R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>3</SB>are each independently H or a 1-8C linear or branched alkyl group; R<SB>2</SB>is a 1-10C linear or branched alkyl group; and x, y, and z are each independently 0 to 4}.
