PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure contact joint that facilitates piping work even in a narrow space and a meter unit for water supply using this joint. SOLUTION: The pressure contact joint comprises a movable receiving part with male threads on its outer periphery, a ratchet gear provided with female threads on the inner periphery to engage with the male threads and also provided with a plurality of feed dogs on the outer periphery, a plunger provided with a feed claw which turns the ratchet gear only in one direction by engaging with the feed dog elastically, and a joint body which houses the movable receiving part expandably in an axial direction. A cover is provided around the ratchet gear to house the plunger, permitting the plunger to slide freely. The plunger is housed in a sleeve in such a manner that the plunger can selectively reverse the direction of engagement of the feed claw with the feed dog. Further, an O-ring is pressingly arranged between the movable receiving part and the ratchet gear. The cover may have a cap provided detachably for at least covering the sleeve.
