PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling tower using water free falling energy without requiring a new power source such as a pump, having a filtering material easily removable for cleaning during operation or stopping. SOLUTION: The cooling tower 1 comprises a water storage tank 2 located at the lower part and an exhaust port 12 located at the upper part and a water spray pipe 10A or a filler 10 provided midways therebetween. A water collecting plate 15 is laterally mounted at the lower part of the water spray pipe 10A or the filler 10 for collecting sprayed water or water 5b flowed through the filler 10, and the filtering material 16 is arranged at the lower part of the water collecting plate 15 for filtering the water 5b collected by the water collecting plate 16.
